I got my very first IT job. I am so happy. I don’t have any certs yet and I don’t have my degree yet, BUT I did it! That means that you can too. My official title is Information Services Field Tech for a really large and prestigious company. All that means is I am hands-on dealing with hardware. imaging computers, ensuring assets and objects are all working properly, responding to tickets. It’s a great learning experience so far and as we all know, experience is key.

I also attended my very first ISC 2 meeting and scheduled my A+ exam dates. So thanks to ITpro.tv and TryHackMe.com, I feel that I am beyond ready for this cert. I know it is a beginners cert but it really does open the doors to any entry-level position. Thanks to my school I am able to get my cert basically for free after discounts and reimbursements. Speaking of school, this semester is coming to an end and I received A’s in all classes! Cisco Switches, Installing Windows Server and Cybersecurity Ops out of the way. :)

Going back to the (ISC)2 Central Florida chapter meeting, I listened to an incredible talk by a security professional names Naomi Buckwalter. This talk about emotional intelligence and the golden rule and how it relates to information security. I can’t fully articulate the power of the speech but now I have to become an official member of (ISC)2 if I get the opportunity to interact and network with these folks.

The whole point of this post is to say that exposure is critical. Immerse yourself in whatever you can and never stop learning.
